New friend..

Today I made a decision. To purchase a GSX-R1000.
It’s a fantastic machine that is a joy to ride. Although its not directly going to help me achieve my mountain goals. It is a clean bit of sober fun. Whoohoo

Well it took me around 6 hours to restore this back to riding condition. I just took it for a spin down the river and it’s so smooth! Looking forward to jumping on this every day as part of my training 🙂

Lazy Balinese monkey waiting for someones thongs to steal.

Well, I started this up to share my progress with training for mountain climbing etc. I wanted to also show some of the adventures I have been on. I havent played with a website for 10 or so years. I look at it every day and wonder what to upload and what to share. But honestly I don’t know where to start. I think these things need a fair bit of time and effort to create and although I do have time I am yet to invest it in learning and creating my online presence. Once I learn how to and set up this space I am sure it will be easy. But for now it sure is a headache!

1987 Peugeot PH501 Ventoux

As of Saturday, I am the proud owner of this beauty. Many thanks to Margaret’s Dad for the generous gift. It’s been in their shed for around 10 years and still has all the original from factory trimmings on it including the original Michelin tires. Unfortunately they need replacing, and the bike needs a bit of a service. I cant wait to jump on it and go for a ride! Hopefully some time this week I can take it for a spin round the river.

Aconcagua, the prelim (of sorts)

ACONCAGUA is the highest mountain in the Americas at 6,962m (22,841ft) above sea level.

ACONCAGUA is the highest mountain in the Americas at 6,962m (22,841ft) above sea level. It’s a member of a group of mountains known as the “7 summits” of which I plan to undertake. Although I have never been drawn to Aconcagua itself, I have for a few years now been attracted to high altitudes and mountains in general. One of my big goals in life is to attempt and fingers crossed, make summit on Mt Everest 8,848m (29,029 ft).

In order to “qualify” for a team to take you to the summit of Everest you first have to have made summit on at least one 7000m peak. Aconcagua being 8m shy of this has been acknowledged by expedition groups and will suffice.

How this plan of attack started, only a week ago. Was I was planning to venture back to the Himalayas early 2013 to attempt summit on a couple of their smaller peaks. In training for an Everest attempt some time later. Over night I realised that in fact Mt Everest itself may be possible for mid next year (2013). I met with a friend of a friend who only last year Successfully made summit on Everest and he gave me some tips. I have not notified him yet but he has become my mentor for this adventure.

What follows over the next 8 months is an epic amount of training and sacrifice. I will be putting aside my lavish lifestyle to spend time build up my cardio and loosing just over 20kgs. I know this is possible because I did it a few years back when training for Mt Kilimanjaro. Unfortunately that trip never eventuated so it’s still on the to do list.

I am patiently waiting out for this wart virus I contracted while adventuring through South East Asia 2 years ago that has taken over my left foot. Doc says I have another couple of weeks before it will be all cleared up. I’m looking forward to getting back out on my feet and hitting it hard over the next year and a half to see what outcomes I can meet 🙂

I know it’s beautiful but soon I will have to say good bye to the belly.

Swiped from failblog but definitely on the money..

“Dating fail: If pregnant women get to do it, so do they”

Well I was never one for before and after photos, but I have a feeling that loosing my target which is 23kgs may prompt some. See how we go!

It starts.

The creation of a blog for my life never really appealed to me.

I never understood how someone could run a whole website dedicated to themselves. However, I have now have a better understanding.

Due to adventures in my near future, I thought it would be a nice way to keep loved ones and anyone else who cares informed.

Please stay tuned as I will be working on this in the next week to give it some appeal.

Hope this first post finds you in good health.
